About CancerX
Announced by the White House Cancer Moonshot in February, CancerX is a public-private partnership to boost innovation in the fight against cancer. Hosted by the Moffitt Cancer Center, alongside the Office for the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), it convenes the many diverse stakeholders needed to unleash the power of innovation to reduce the burden of cancer for everyone. To learn more or participate in CancerX’s pre-competitive, evidence-generating efforts, Accelerator cohort, or demonstration projects, sign up today.
Mission
To unite a diverse and inclusive community of stakeholders and harness our collective superpowers to rapidly pioneer and equitably deploy innovative solutions that can prevent and cure cancer.
Goal
To convene the many stakeholders necessary to create, foster, accelerate, and scale the impact of a community of innovators dedicated to reducing the burden of cancer for all people.
Our Approach
CancerX will ignite innovation in pursuit of the promise of a life without cancer through an integrated, three-pronged approach:
Pre-Competitive Evidence Generation
A rolling series of multi-stakeholder initiatives will develop evidence, best practices, toolkits, and value models to drive the success of the mission.
Accelerator
Demonstration
Projects
These implementation projects will pilot novel, mission-aligned approaches to demonstrate their value and sustainability for scale to drive broad adoption.
Through this approach, we will establish best practices, build capacity, and demonstrate the impact of innovation on the life of every person on a cancer journey.
2023-2024 Strategic Approach
Our History
In early 2022, President Biden reignited the Cancer Moonshot, setting new national goals to cut the death rate from cancer by at least 50% over the next 25 years and improve the experience of people and their families living with and surviving cancer. In its first year, the reignited Cancer Moonshot announced over 25 new programs, policies, and resources in pursuit of these goals.
In February 2023, to mark the one-year anniversary of the new national goals, the Cancer Cabinet – the expert and interagency body responsible for setting the Cancer Moonshot agenda across government agencies – announced three new actions, including the establishment of CancerX – a public-private partnership (PPP) to act as a national accelerator to boost innovation in the fight against cancer.
Bringing together the elite experience of both digital medicine and oncology, the ONC and OASH are partnering with Moffitt Cancer Center to host CancerX. The Moffitt partnership is well established with a proven track record of success convening multi-stakeholder experts, including government partners, to advance the use of digital solutions to reduce the incidence and burden of cancer for all people.
