Digitally Enabled Cancer Navigation

Did you know that 20% of oncology trials fail due to insufficient enrollment, and only 7% of patients with cancer participate in clinical trials? Clinical trials are critical for advancing oncology treatments, and it’s unacceptable that many fail due to low enrollment. More awareness and support are needed to improve these rates and save the lives of those with cancer.

Our upcoming project, Digitally Enabled Cancer Navigation, is testing a scalable digitally enabled cancer navigator pilot that will connect more diverse patients with more trials. Through this demonstration project, we are equipping patient navigators nationwide and in differently resourced settings with a roadmap to expand their impact on clinical trial matching, enrollment, and retention. This project will also examine the sufficiency of combined payment mechanisms and reimbursement pathways for patient navigation services that improve patient access to clinical trials.
